evening meal. The vendors were starting
to tear down and it was about to end.
After purchasing a little more event
swag, I found a seat (which was hard
to do) underneath the sold out venue
tent ready for my number to be called
out. I sat eagerly as I watched tons of
gear, gift certificates, suspensions, tents,
and even a Magnusson supercharger
were given away. Although I only
walked away with three t-shirts, it
was a fun night and a great ending to
what was one of my most memorable
weeks ever. I made my way back to
camp and enjoyed one last night of
bonding with old friends and new.
Early the next morning, the FJ's and
other Toyotas gathered on main street
for the yearly group photo. It was one
heck of a traffic jam, but the photos are
always incredible. Back at camp and
after a light breakfast, we packed up,
said our goodbyes and headed towards
Arkansas riding that stiff west Texas
tailwind all the way. We drove all night
only stopping for coffee and fuel. Our
Toyotas were hammered down as the
GMRS radios kept us in touch and
awake for the most part. The arrival was
bittersweet. I arrived home to my wife
and dog and sat down for hours and
hours of stories I that I'll never forget.
