The FJ Cruiser Trail Teams

If you attended most any TLCA event this year, you were sure to notice something new and different—Toyota’s FJ Cruiser Trail Teams! They brought really cool, well equipped, new FJ Cruisers for us to take turns trail testing. They towed neat little custom made trailers behind them to the events—trailers that were filled with computers, cameras, video equipment, most excellent swag... and barbeque gear too! I know there’s hardly anything I like better than beating on someone else’s junk all day and then having them cook for me back at camp! What a deal!
And bear in mind this was not an easy thing to pull off. Events are often far apart in terms of miles, but sometimes close together in terms of time. Being an FJ Cruiser Trail Team member is one of those jobs like ”Rock Star,” which looks like all fun, games and glamour from the outside, but is really pretty grueling from the driver’s seat.
The FJ Cruiser Trail Teams showing up at our TLCA events was also a commitment that ran deeper than just the guys and gals in the FJ Cruisers themselves. This idea came from inside Toyota, ran through their marketing team and out to their event management folks—and then out into the public eye. Many people were involved at multiple levels to make this happen. For us….
And so it is with much gratitude and appreciation that TLCA would like to name Toyota and The FJ Cruiser Trail Teams our Commercial Members of the Year for 2006. Thanks y’all—we had a great time with you at every event the FJ Cruiser Trail Teams attended and we hope we can do more of the same in 2007!
