I am looking for a set of chromoly rear axle shafts for a 40 ff axle.

Have you called Sandy Cone @ www.coneindustries.com ? What he'd prolly do is 
spline a shaft, at both ends, & make you a drive plate. If he doesn't do it, 
call Dutchman, Moser, Mark Williams or Summers Bros. If they're not familiar w/ 
LC axle shafts, you may need to send them a spider gear so they can cut the 
correct pressure angle. HTH!
