I'm not Herb but can answer that question - kinda sorta. Toyota started making Bandierantes in Brazil many, many years ago (1960s IIRC), which are very, very similar to the 40 series. My understanding is that Toyota didn't actually own the factory there, but licensed the design. Someone correct me if I'm getting this wrong, I am going by memory and my big Toyota Land Cruiser anniversary book is at home. Anyway, they use Mercedes diesel engines, and they stopped making them several years ago.
