Assuming it is the "later version" as in my 76 and 78, they get crusty and wear out. And they probably get plugged up from deposits too.

Plenty when newish and not so much when old and worn.

I got a pristine one for my 76 resto from Ige when she was parting out a rig. Local clubs are great for trading free used parts. You might try Rain Country Cruisers.
