Just to let everyone know the ending to the story (if anyone can remember how it started).

I replaced all four u-joints last night along with some of the hardware. Took the truck for a test drive and noise and vibration gone!

A sincere thanks to everyone who helped and gave advice. It really made the job a breeze.

Kyle.

There is a pretty good depiction in the FSM, but basically you've got as many different ways of putting the slip yoke back together as there are splines. I'll attempt a little ASCII art:

]-----=----[

Basically, you want the ends of the yokes to be lined up the same as each other. This narrows it down to 2 ways, with one of them 180° out of phase and the other one correct. If it is out 180° it is seldom a problem, but it is better to get them right because the balancing weight(s) on the tube portion is supposed to compensate for any issues in the solid part. To figure out which one is right, then you want the zerk grease fittings to line up with one u-joint zerk offset to one side, the zerk for the slip joint in the middle and the one for the other u-joint zerk offset opposite but equal angle to the other end. Clear as mud?
